Trip to New York and Yankees Stadium

A few weeks ago (September 19th) Shawn Jr. and I flew out to New York to meet up with Brittany and two of her friends from Wake Forest to see Derek Jeter's last home stand at Yankee Stadium.   We had a great trip.

Here we are in front of Yankee Stadium

Below is a picture of me next to Don Mattingly's retired #23.  Don Mattingly was the last Yankee Captain before Derek Jeter.

It was a beautiful day for a baseball game.

Unfortunately the Yankees lost 3 to 6 against the Blue Jays.  However, Derek Jeter got a couple of hits, including one in the 9th inning.  Also, a person 3 rows in front of me caught a home run ball.

Ticket from the game.

While the whole Derek Jeter goodbye tour was a little overdone, it was really fun to be there at his last game in Arlington and his last home stand at Yankee Stadium.

Here are the girls in front of the "Cake Boss Cafe" just outside Times Square.

They were having a chess event in Central Park.  There were hundreds of games set up.

Here is Shawn Jr. in Times Square.  He had a terrific time in New York.

Need a Yankees hat?  Stores around Times Square had tons of Yankees stuff and almost no Mets clothing.

We took the subway to Yankee Stadium.  It was crazy crowded.

Brittany and her friends shot a music video with Shaka y Dres in Times Square in New York.

On our way home, we flew the first leg in a small propeller driven airplane.  Because we were the first ones on, it felt a little like this was our private plane.
