"Shawn Jr's" Heath Parking Spot

Each year the girls varsity basketball team at Rockwall-Heath High School does a killer fundraiser.  They allow students to purchase a reserved parking spot in the school parking lot.  Students get to paint to spot with whatever they want. The best spots - the ones closest to the school are made available to the girls basketball team.  After the girls basketball team, spots are assigned on a first come first serve basis.  On a Saturday, students wait in line to get their assigned spot and paint it. People wait in line forever to get these spots.  Shawn was exited to have a great parking spot for his senior year and was prepared to do whatever it takes to get a good spot.  I was supportive because, given he was always late, a spot close to the school would be a good idea.

However, as luck would have it, the weekend the spots were to be assigned, our entire family was in North Carolina helping Brittany move back in at Wake Forest. Therefore, Shawn was not going to get a spot. He was mad.

That next Monday, the first day back at school after the spots had been painted and assigned, he pulled into the parking lot. He was late - as usual.   As he drove around the parking lot looking for a spot he noticed something odd.  A spot close to the entry was still open.  It was painted blue with yellow stars.  Then it hit him. Wait. That is the same paint as last year. That was Sam Zimmerman's spot. The spot was likely reserved for a girl on the basketball team and it somehow did not get assigned. Therefore, while all the other spots around it had been taken and repainted, this spot was the same as last year.  Hmmmm.

Shawn pulled into the spot on and claimed it as his own.  He was never challenged and kept the spot the entire year.
