The Name Game

We are considering the following names for Himer (Brittany's name for the baby - him or her). Leave a comment and let me know your preference. This is not a democracy (Misty gets final say). The numbers after the name indicate where the name ranked in popularity in the US in 2007. The stars mean that the name is not in the top 1000 names last year. This ranking information is from a great website provided by the Social Security Administration (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/). Finally our tax dollars at work to build something useful.

They are all good. How can you still think of names after 5?

Girl Names
Isla* - Interesting. La Isla Bonita (Madonna). Maybe a little too out there. Interesting though.
Eden (257) - Sounds like an adult film star name
Genesis (139) - First of two 1980s rock band names
Journey (692) - Second...
Alex (73) - Didn't realize this was a girl's name, actually. Maybe I did, but I don't think so. Alexa maybe?
Hope (206) - sort of hippy-ish
Ginny* - reminds me of Forrest Gump
Janell* - Not sure this fits your family skin color
Grace (20) - like
Anna (25) - like (I knew a girl named Anya - liked that too)
Sarah (18) - not bad
I guess I'm not very original (liking the top-25s). No comments on Tessa or Eve. Not sure what to think of those.

Boy Names
Windsor* - sounds rich-kid/pasty Northeasterner-ish. I like the idea though.
Eli (103) - all I think is Eli Manning! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Least favorite of all the names... by far.
Ian (74) - a little too British for me
Josh (728) - wow - 728 - I sort of like this name.
Ethan (3) - #3 - It's the 1970s version of Dave and Jenny, I guess. Ok by me.
Reed (451) - Interesting
William (8) - As long as you don't mind people calling him Bill. I prefer names that can't be changed too much.
Yankee* - Cuckoo (hah!)
Luke (46) - fine. Safe.
John (19) - Ditto
Derek (142) - Like Derek Jeter? Funny. Ok by me. Where's Alex on this list? Oh yeah, under girl names.
Arod* - this wasn't on your list?
Christian (22) - Fine. Might get shortened to Chris. Why isn't anyone named "Jew" or "Muslim"?
Aiden (27) - Not a fan
Cameron (50) - Diaz.

I like the names, Ella Heather Helms, Alex Heather Helms and Anna Heather Helms, Eli Heath Helms, Ethan Heath Helms and Cameron Heath Helms.

Who would want to be named Yankee? That's like asking for your child to get beat up every day for the rest of my life. :)

William looks fantastic for boys names, but Derek and Yankee are terrible (I bet that was britt's idea). Can't wait for baby to arrive!

I like a combo of these names for first and middle names.

Girls #1- Journey Grace (I would spell it differently- like Jurnee, Jurnie, Jirnee, Journee)

#2- Ella Journey Helms (can't remember if Ella was a choice or if it was just Heather's choice)

Boys #1- Reed William Helms
#2- Aiden Windsor Helms

I'm just happy we get to pretend we actually have a say in one of the Helms kid's names.

I hope our baby gets here soon because I know mom is tired of carrying it.

Girls Names:
#1 Willow Grace

#2 Alisa Hope (I made up my own first name)

Boys Names:
#1 William Madole Helms (I made up my own middle name)

#2 Reed William

Although Shawn, as a little boy, you told me you wanted to change your name to Mark. Maybe that is your innerbeing. You named your first boy after yourself, so maybe this boy should be named after the name you truly wanted.

Eden Grace

Ethan Mark

I like Ella Grace. I like that Ella means bright light and that Grace reminds me of God's amazing grace.

For the boy Mark. It is a good strong name not girly or weird and also my little brother's middle name is Mark. He is a very godly man so Mark.

Jonah Mark

or

Taryn Hope

Please don't use Journey...I know a girl named Jorni who is horrible and the name Mark is too boering...maybe use it for a middle name.

For boys I really like Eden, Eli, & Ethan

For girls I like Ella a lot! and Grace and Hope (very inspirational)!!!
