Call Me Maybe

Have you heard the song "Call Me Maybe" by Canadian recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen? It is a very catchy tune that is likely going to be the big summer hit of 2012.

The Harvard baseball team did a choreographed "dance" to the song recently that is going viral. Our kids love it.

Bird is the Word

Our family has been watching 5 baby birds grow up right before our eyes in a nest by our side door.  It has been fun to watch them go from unrecognizable little fur balls to real birds.

Triniti Turns 9

On Saturday Triniti had a birthday party celebrating her 9th birthday.  In typical Helms family fashion, we were running around Saturday morning pulling together last minute arrangements.  Triniti had a great mix of friend attend.  Some homeschool girls, some gymnastics friends and several kids from our neighborhood.  It was a great group.

Because my family seems to turn everything into a competition, the first part of the birthday party was a series of outdoor games.  A water balloon toss, egg toss, egg race, wheel barrow race, crab walk and musical chairs.  I think the girls had a good time.  For the second part of the party, everyone swam and played in the pool and just goofed around.

Fun with Bubbles!

Last night we got out a new bubble machine at Costco (my wife's new favorite store) called Gazillion Bubbles. It works really well! Late last night, the kids set it up out back by the pool, turned it on and watched the bubbles bounce off the water. It was a really cool site. Below is a video of the bubbles going into the pool. About 1/2 way through, Skylin turns on the pool light.

MadFrog 12s Ranked #2 in the Nation!

Noelle's MadFrog team just found out that they are ranked #2 in the nation by USA Volleyball.  The only team ranked higher is ASICS MAVS 12 (out of Overland Park, Kansas).  The difference is only  .007 points!  MAVS have a ranking score of 7.059 compared to the MadFrog score of 7.052.  For comparison, note that the  third place team has a score of 5.920.

The MAVS are the only team to have beat Noelle's MadFrog team this year.  Therefore, they are certainly deserving of their #1 national ranking.  We hope to see them again soon and at Nationals.
