Skylin had her first dance auditions this weekend! Skylin tried out for the summer intensives for American Ballet Theater (ABT) and Ballet Austin. While it was just an audition, it was a chance for her to see how she stacks up against some of the best ballet dancers in the area. For ABT, Skylin was one of 82 girls trying out in the 11-13 year old division. For Ballet Austin, Skylin was one of 38 girls in the 11-14 year old division. Her chances of making one of these is very low. She is at the low end of the age group and they only take about 9% of the girls that try out (about the odds of getting in to an Ivy League school). She will find out in about 2 weeks.
Regardless of the outcome, it was a great experience that will help prepare her for the future.
